David Wong

Current local board member since 2016, David is the Board’s portfolio lead on landowner approvals and as a team, on planning and consents. He’s supported local business during Covid, led several Local Board cultural diversity, youth initiatives and worked hard to preserve local parks and reserves.

David has worked in banking and finance for 30 years. Having a regulatory affairs/compliance background, he diligently upholds minimum standards of the Unitary Plan to preserve vital heritage and character and protect green spaces.

Vice chair of NZ Chinese Association Auckland and Auckland Chinese Community Centre, David thrives on building stronger communities. Involved in the Community Organisation Grants Scheme and the East City Community Trust, David’s lived in Remuera with his wife and three children for over 21 years. He works closely with the Remuera Residents Association and is an active Rotary member and JP.
